Remsie: Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Remsie ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Remsie mobile application (the "App").
Remsie turns spoken descriptions of your dreams into animated video. The App also offers an optional public feed where you can choose to publish individual dreams for other Remsie users to watch. Because that process involves recording your voice, generating media, and (only if you opt in) publishing selected dream content, this policy explains in plain terms what data flows through the App, what becomes public if you share, and which third parties process data on our behalf.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
- Voice recordings and audio. When you record a dream, the App captures audio through your device's microphone. This audio is transmitted to our speech-to-text provider (see Section 4) to produce a transcript. We do not store the raw audio after transcription (see Section 5).
- Transcripts. The text transcription of your recording, used to generate your video and to screen a dream for shareability if you choose to share it. If you explicitly publish a dream, its transcript is included in that public feed item (see Section 6).
- Generated content. The scene descriptions, reference images, keyframes, signature colors, reflective "insights," and final videos that the App produces from your input. These are stored so the App can serve them back to you across your devices.
- Account information. Sign-in is required. We use Firebase Authentication; depending on how you sign in we receive your email address (passwordless "magic link" sign-in) and/or an authentication identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, plus a stable account identifier. We do not receive your Apple/Google password.
- Public-feed data (only if you opt in). If you choose to publish a dream to the feed, we store the published item (its still images and video, title, theme tags, transcript, and reflective insights), a record that you consented to our Community Guidelines, and (internally, never shown to others) the association between the published item and your account so we can honor un-sharing, deletion, and abuse handling. See Section 6.
- Reports. If you report a dream, we store that report (the reason and the affected item) to operate safety features. Reporting also stores a private record that permanently removes that dream and its dreamer from your own feed only; this record is never shown to you as a list, or to anyone else.
- Consent records. When you accept our Community Guidelines & EULA to share for the first time, we record that acceptance (the version accepted and the time).
- Subscription and purchase data. Some features require a paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store In-App Purchase. We do not receive or store your payment-card details; Apple provides us with non-sensitive transaction and subscription-status information needed to manage your access.
- Device and technical information. Device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, and similar diagnostic data.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we collect the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) / Firebase Cloud Messaging token associated with your device so we can send you alerts (for example, when a video finishes rendering).
- Age signal. To use the public feed you must confirm you are 16 or older. We do not collect or store your birthdate. (In a future release, where available on your device, we may use Apple's privacy-preserving Declared Age Range signal, which returns an age range, not a birthdate, to confirm eligibility.)
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Transcribe your recordings and generate the animated videos you request.
- Store and deliver your generated content back to you within the App and across your devices.
- Operate the optional public feed if you choose to use it: publishing, serving, ranking, and (see Section 6) automatically screening shared content.
- Operate safety features: reporting, automated moderation, and abuse prevention.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the App.
- Manage your subscription and provide customer support.
- Send notifications you have enabled.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and Remsie contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or generated content to train any machine-learning models of our own, and we do not permit the providers we use (Section 4) to use your content to train their models.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK Users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your information on these bases: performance of our contract with you (to deliver the service you request), your consent (for example, microphone access, notifications, and publishing a dream to the public feed), our legitimate interests (improving and securing the App and keeping the feed safe), and compliance with legal obligations.
You may withdraw consent at any time by disabling the relevant permission, un-sharing your published dreams, or contacting us.
4. Third-Party Service Providers (Sub-Processors)
We rely on the following providers to operate the App. Each processes data only as needed to perform its function:
| Provider | Purpose | Data processed |
|---|---|---|
| Deepgram | Speech-to-text transcription | Voice audio, resulting transcripts |
| OpenAI | Image generation (produces the dream's keyframe stills via gpt-image) and publish-time content-safety moderation of imagery you choose to share to the feed | Scene prompts derived from your transcript (for image generation); the representative still of a shared dream (for moderation) |
| Google (Gemini, Veo, Firebase, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage) | Scene direction, reflective "insights," and content screening (Gemini); video generation (Veo); sign-in, database, push delivery, and app-integrity checks (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, App Check); hosting (Cloud Run); routine Coldline backups of generated media (Cloud Storage) | Transcripts, generated scene/image/video content, account data, app state, device push tokens, backup media |
| Cloudflare (R2) | Storage and delivery of private generated stills/videos and account-disassociated public-feed media copies | Generated still images and videos |
| Resend | Sending the passwordless sign-in ("magic link") email | Your email address |
| Apple | App distribution, subscription billing, and push notification delivery | Purchase/subscription data, APNs tokens |
These providers may process and store data outside your country, including in the United States.
5. Data Retention
- Generated content. We retain your transcripts, generated images, and videos for as long as your account remains active, so your content stays available to you within the App.
- Raw audio. We do not retain the raw audio of your voice recordings. Audio is used only to produce a transcript and is not stored on our systems after transcription. Audio is processed by our speech-to-text provider, Deepgram, under its own terms (see Section 4).
- Public-feed copies and published text. If you publish a dream, we create separate account-disassociated copies of its still images and video to serve in the feed; its transcript and reflective insights are included in the published feed record. If you un-share the dream, or delete the dream or your account, we delete that public content from our systems. Copies that other users already viewed or that remain in a content-delivery cache cannot be recalled (caches expire within a short period).
- Deletion. You may delete a dream, un-share it, or delete your entire account at any time from within the App. When you delete your account, we immediately revoke your sign-in, immediately remove your published feed items from public serving, and then permanently purge your associated data (dreams, generated media, account records, and feed copies) from our active systems, typically within 24 hours, subject to routine backups and any retention required by law. Note that your Apple subscription, if any, must be cancelled separately through the App Store.
6. The Public Dream Feed (How Sharing Works)
The feed is off by default and opt-in. A dream stays private unless you explicitly publish it, and even then only a limited, anonymized version is shown.
- What becomes public: the dream's still images and video, its title, its theme tags, its transcript, and its reflective insights.
- What remains private: your raw voice recording, email and account information, and the private association between your account and the published item.
- Anonymity: the feed shows no usernames, profile photos, profile links, or author identity of any kind. Published media is re-hosted to non-identifying storage locations so it cannot be traced back to your account by other users. (We retain the internal association privately so we can honor un-sharing, deletion, and reporting.)
- Automated moderation: before a dream is published and after, we automatically screen it for safety (an AI screen of the transcript+title and of the representative image). Content that fails this screen is not published or is removed.
- Un-sharing: you can un-share any dream at any time; we delete the public copy. As noted in Section 5, copies already viewed or cached cannot be recalled.
- Reporting: you can report any dream in the feed. Reporting flags it for our review, and permanently removes that dream and that dreamer from your own feed only; no one else's feed is affected. You are never shown who a dreamer is, and you never see a list of what you have reported or removed.
- Eligibility: you must be 16 or older to publish to, or browse, the feed (see Section 8).
7. How We Share Information
We share information only:
- With the service providers listed in Section 4, to operate the App.
- As part of the public feed, when you choose to publish a dream, and then only the account-disassociated media, title, themes, transcript, and insights described in Section 6.
- To comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests.
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of Remsie, our users, or the public, including reporting child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or equivalent authorities as required by law.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can delete individual dreams, un-share published dreams, and delete your entire account directly within the App.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@remsie.ai. We will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Children's Privacy and Age
The App's public feed is restricted to users 16 and older, and the App is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, app-integrity attestation (Firebase App Check), and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Data Transfers
We and our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, notify you within the App.
